The Project

The Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation have protected and promoted their rights since and prior to the signing of the Treaty of Niagara. The Chippewas of Nawash continue protecting and promoting their rights to this day.

The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2007, contain 46 articles that outline the minimum standards for Indigenous Rights to be protected and to promote self-determination.

With this the advocacy of some Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous organizations, the United Nations Declaration Act, became Canadian law on June 21, 2021. Canada has developed an Action Plan to implement the Act.

Design Considerations

This report design aims to display the report's content and create a visual and engaging report for Nawash members. Blue and yellow, the colors of sunrise, are inspired by the campaign's branding, symbolizing new beginnings and growth. The design integrates an illustration from the Nawash logo, with the Anishinaabe Thunderbird subtly featured in the background. This thoughtful inclusion creates a cohesive visual flow throughout the document, grounding it in cultural meaning and identity.
